Kid Camps at the Winnipeg Humane Society have always been a highlight at the shelter. Campers have the chance to meet some of our WHS shelter animals, learn about animal welfare issues and most importantly, build empathy towards animals in a fun and exciting way.

We were sad to have to cancel our spring break camp this year, but our priority was to keep everyone safe and healthy, and to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

When the Government of Manitoba announced that in Phase 1 of resuming services, day camps would be able to operate again (albeit limited), we were so excited for our summer camps!

Yes, things will be different this year, but our goals are the same – which is to support tomorrow’s humane educators by educating youth in a fun and interactive way.

The WHS has taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of everyone coming through our building, by implementing new procedures while still planning fun crafts, games, and activities for our campers.

Some changes you can expect:

  • Self-screening questions each day
  • Thorough cleaning protocols
  • Sanitizing after each craft, activity, and game, as well as lunch and bathroom breaks
  • 2m spacing for our sign in and sign out line ups
  • 24 campers max per week

We know there may be some additional questions you may have after registering your child for camp, which is why we have created a parent handbook that will explain everything in greater detail to prepare you for our 2020 Kid Camps. Our camp staff are here to help you through the process and make it easier on all our parents.

Limited spots available, so book now!
