Are you looking for a great family project to keep busy AND help the community? The WHS Pet Supply Box Drive is a great opportunity for volunteers, families to engage kids or for those who just want to give back to help those who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in our community.

We are asking people who are able if they’d be willing to create a cat supply box or a dog supply box (or both!) filled with food, treats and supplies that we will collect at the shelter in our donation bins. See below for sample boxes and suitable items.

These supply boxes are to support those in need of pet food and items, who may have lost wages or are unemployed during pandemic. Also, for seniors and those who are immune suppressed, and cannot leave their homes to gain access to the supplies necessary for their pets. The goal is also to prevent animals from being surrendered because individuals cannot afford to feed their pet.

Pet Supply Boxes can be dropped off at the shelter (45 Hurst Way) in the red bin outside our main doors. We will distribute them to our community partners including the North End Women’s Centre, who will hand them out to those in need.

We would request items to fit securely into a box already assembled so we can comply with social distancing and not have to recruit a team to do so.

*Supply boxes can include any/all of the items listed below.
