Spay and Neuter Assistance for your pet:

The Winnipeg Humane Society is committed to reducing the number of homeless pets in our community. Providing affordable spay and neuter option to all Manitobans is part of our plan. Right now we have a few spay and neuter assistance programs in place to help pet owners take the best care possible of their animals.

20/20/20 Program

This program is an initiative by The Winnipeg Humane Society in conjunction with the City of Winnipeg to help reduce the stray cat population by providing affordable spay and neuter options for low income cat owners in the city of Winnipeg. The Winnipeg Humane Society, The City of Winnipeg and the animal owner all contribute $25 to the sterilization surgery of the cat.

Please call 888-SNAP to find out if you qualify and to set up an appointment for you pet. (Please note there is usually a wait time of four to eight weeks for this program).

All cats that are participating in the 20/20/20 program are required to have their full vaccinations. If an animal does not have their vaccinations, owners can qualify for a subsidy vaccination, which will be administered at the time of the surgery. The cost of the subsidy vaccination is an additional $5.60. Please call 888-SNAP to find out if you can qualify, or to set up a 20/20/20 appointment for your cat. (Please note there is usually a wait time of four to eight weeks for this program.)

Spay and Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP)

The WHS Spay and Neuter Assistance Program is in place to assist low income dog owners in the city of Winnipeg, and low income dog and cat owners outside the city in greater Manitoba. At a cost of $40 for male cats, $45 for female cats, and $60 for dogs, The SNAP program is an affordable way to have an animal safely sterilized.

In order to qualify for the SNAP program, The WHS does request that interested parties provide proof  of household income or proof of social assistance. Any vaccination records should be provided when the animal is brought it. If your animal is not vaccinated, the vaccinations will be provided at the time of the surgery. Please call 888-SNAP to find out if you qualify and to set up an appointment for you pet. (Please note there is usually a wait time of four to eight weeks for this program.)

Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR)

The WHS TNR program is an innovative new way to help address the cat overpopulation problem in Winnipeg. For more information about how you can participate or donate to this project, visit out TNR Program page.
