Session Details

To register, please call our support line at 988-8804 (leave a message if no one answers and your call will be returned) or email pet-loss@shaw.ca.
Note: If you register for a group session, but become unable to attend, please call to let us know.

Group sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The WHS shelter located at 45 Hurst Way.

The fee is $10 per person, per session. Those with financial concerns are welcomed to contact Anne directly to discuss, as we believe that financial circumstances should not become a barrier to receiving support.

Anne Mulders Papadopoulos has a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology and is a Certified Trauma Specialist. She has over 20 years of counselling experience, specializing in grief support and education.

Often people who lose a pet must defend themselves against insensitivities that don't normally occur with human loss. Anne assists people in finding their way through the grieving process by offering a comfortable and safe environment, unconditional acceptance, and validation of feelings. Her compassion and understanding will help facilitate recovery. She offers support before and after the loss of a companion animal, as well as grief and bereavement counselling. Anne also offers individual counselling and works with couples, families and groups.

Most people tend to use the words grief and mourning interchangeably. Grief is our internal thoughts and feelings, whereas mourning is the external expression of those thoughts and feelings. Many people grieve within themselves in isolation, instead of mourning outside of themselves in the presence of caring individuals. Anne assists people in moving towards healing not by just grieving, but through mourning.

If you would like to make a private appointment with Anne, please email her at pet-loss@shaw.ca or visit her website at www.members.shaw.ca/pet-loss. She is also on Facebook under Winnipeg Pet-Loss Support Group.
