Crystal and Jen are two veterinary technicians who work in The WHS clinic. Thank you for all of your hard work!

Supporting every great veterinarian is a great vet technician (or two!). October 11 to 17 is National Veterinary Technician Week and The Winnipeg Humane Society is proud of our vet technician team and what they accomplish everyday.

The WHS has six vet techs on staff who help with the daily operation of the clinic. Much like nurses at a hospital, vet techs work on the front line. Vet techs perform diagnostic procedures, blood tests, and exams on the animals that arrive in our clinic. In some situations an animal can come to our clinic and have their health needs met by a vet tech without even seeing a vet. This helps speed up the care for animals in the clinic and allows the vets to focus on other practices.

Vet techs play a critical role with assisting our vets too. They aid our vets during surgeries and other procedures taking place in the clinic. They assist with an animal’s anesthesia, assist the vet during surgeries, and much more.

Our clinic would not function without our hard-working vet technicians. They’re a big reason why The WHS clinic can perform up to 40 surgeries a day including emergency and spay and neuter surgeries. Helping animals is a team effort and our vet technicians play a big part when it comes to animal health and welfare.

Thank you for all of your hard work!
