WHS Heads North for Animal Care Clinic The remote Northern community of God’s Lake First Nation, like so many others, has been dealing with the ongoing issues of lack of accessible veterinary care and dog overpopulation. WHS removes puppy’s leg after hunting trap incident

It was the worst day of Fleece’s young life. The 12-week-old Shepherd puppy stepped on a hunting trap causing some large wounds on his front left leg. He was in intense pain and all alone until he was found and brought to us at the Winnipeg Humane Society. But because of your help, Fleece’s worst days are behind him. Spay and neuter clinics set up in northern Manitoba

The Winnipeg Humane Society Clinic are going to Norway House and Cross Lake from November 6-10 for spay and neuter clinics. The northern Manitoba clinics are possible because of a joint-effort with the WHS, Norway House Animal Rescue, the community of Norway House, Norway House Cree Nation, Cross Lake, and Pimicikamak Cree Nation. The northern clinic will help improve animal health in an area impacted by animal overpopulation and with few veterinary services. WHS to amputate leg: Removing severely injured leg gives dog new quality of life

Yazmine, a one-year-old Husky Shepherd, broke her front right leg and received no medical attention. The fracture incorrectly healed and now she’s been left with a significant limp and visibly deformed leg. Yazmine is now at The Winnipeg Humane Society and will receive treatment. WHS Director of Animal Health Dr. Erika Anseeuw will amputate the leg giving Yazmine the best opportunity to live a fulfilling life, uninhibited by her leg. Puppy with crushed feet will walk again, thanks to Winnipeg Humane Society

Mittens, a fluffy five-month-old Corgi-Sheltie mix, was hit by a car. His two back legs were severely injured and he did not receive treatment for his injury. He was in severe pain. He couldn’t walk. However, thanks to The WHS and supporters like you he will walk again. Due to extensive damage and infection, the right leg will be removed. National Veterinary Technician Week

  Supporting every great veterinarian is a great vet technician (or two!). October 11 to 17 is National Veterinary Technician Week and The Winnipeg Humane Society is proud of our vet technician team and what they accomplish everyday. The WHS has six vet techs on staff who help with the daily operation of the clinic. Much like nurses at a hospital, vet techs work on the front line.
