Extending and Inspiring Compassion

The Winnipeg Humane Society’s Farm Animal Compassion committee presents Nikki Chapen’s free public lecture: Inspiring Compassion, Putting our Ethics on the Table. The lecture will take place in the WHS Classroom on Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m. Chapen’s talk will focus on understanding the animals we often think of as food and extend our circle of compassion to include them.  She also addresses factory farming practices and provides information and tips on making more compassionate food choices. Safety a priority between dogs and toddlers in WHS workshop

While a dog and toddler create opportunity for plenty of photos, precautions must be taken to keep both safe. The Winnipeg Humane Society is offering a workshop to teach parents how their dog and child can live in harmony and avoid injury.   Cats that wander the streets are at an increased risk and danger of serious injury. Star Wars invades WHS’s annual 1001 Donations

The Winnipeg Humane Society will use the power of the Dark Side to raise funds for animals in its care. The 501st Legion, an Imperial Star Wars costuming club, will help the shelter raise funds at its annual Liberty Tax Service 1001 Donations Radio and Telethon on Sunday, March 20. As you may know, this weekend The WHS is holding our annual book sale AND we are celebrating National Cupcake Day. So on February 13 and 14th you can load up on great books and enjoy some delicious cupcakes and at the same time help us save thousands of animals and offer low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to thousands of pet owners who otherwise could not afford it.
