The story about Shadow is beautiful and amazing! That dog has a free spirit and I've never heard of another one like it! So glad there are people like yourselves who will rescue an animal and give them a second chance. It tells me that if you are like this with animals, you certainly are the same with people. May your lives be richly blessed because of your heartfelt and fearless decisions to be "a giver" in life. Blessings to you both.
Sincerely,
Dara P.

I thoroughly enjoyed your story and read it with tears in my eyes. I once had a dog who, although not black, had all of the same attributes. I found him as a 7 week old puppy and his owners about to club him with a tire iron and throw him in the burning barrel. He was the cutest and smartest dog I ever owned and lived to be 17 years old. He had a debilitating stroke and before arriving at the Vet Clinic ate a chocolate chip muffin. The Vet, being a family friend, came into the car to put him to sleep. Mike knew it was time and gave the Vet his paw and waiting patiently for what was to come with all of us around him crying. That was in 2000 and I miss him to this very day.
Thanks again for sharing your marvelous story. Mike was not black but was 1/4 black lab, 1/4 Doberman and 1/2 sheltie. Quite the combination.

This is such a wonderful uplifting story, it brought tears to my eyes. God Bless You.... Jocelyn Allan and Chris Keck for taking in this dog. That's just unimaginably sad how terrible some dogs lives are out in these reservations, I just don't understand some people. But you and your boyfriend went back to get him in the dark and raining night, how touching. May God richly bless you, such wonderful and caring people.

Thank you for Shadow's story. We also have an all black dog, a female lab-type dog who was left beside the ditch on a freezing cold night a year ago (near south end Winnipeg). A young pup, she followed our two dogs to our home and we kept her, because she cheered us with her ever-wagging tail. We posted notices and the WHS also helped, but no one claimed this little black pup. Now she is my cheerful companion, and guardian. She also has become a good buddy to one of our other dogs, who had been lonely and sad before this pup arrived.
I now appreciate the great potential joy that a black dog, like other- colored dogs, can bring to us all!
